Melissa first became interested in medicine while taking Anatomy and Physiology in high school. She graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior and went on to pursue an Associate Degree in Nursing from Sierra College School of Nursing, followed by a Bachelor Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. She went on to graduate from Loma Linda University with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree in 2022, where she became board certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in August of 2022.

Melissa worked as a Registered Nurse for 15 years prior to starting her career as a Pediatric NP, which included 12 years in the emergency department and 3 years of inpatient nursing. Working almost 11 years at Loma Linda University Medical Center, Murrieta, she was involved in the Pediatric ER and championed the committee for improving pediatric care within the emergency department.

During graduate school, Melissa trained at many clinics, including Loma Linda University Health pediatric outpatient clinics, pediatric urgent care, and pediatric urology in Indio, as well as other pediatric offices throughout Riverside County.

Outside of the clinic, Melissa enjoys working out, interior decorating, boating, camping, baking, spending time with family, and watching her kids learn and grow.
